Shoes
Those shoes we keep but never wear are reminders of the times we were there.
A babies first steps in their little blue shoes, telling all this fabulous news
A child getting ready for school, all dressed and steady in their new shoes. A mother filled with pride, the child just wanting to hide.
A teenager on their first date, where’s my shoes? I don’t want to be late!
A nurse their uniform smart, their face full of smiles, the shoes they wear walking miles.
As I walk through my life thinking back on those shoes I wore, these days no glamorous shoes of a teen or when I was at work.
These days as I get old the shoes I wear are sensible and wide. the crooked toes within they hide.
A collection of poems and thoughts by Wendi Coles.
