Autumn leaves are falling now
the clocks have gone back one hour.
Lighter mornings but the darker nights herald the coming of Winter.
Memories of a glorious summer are put aside for Autumn and Winter chills.
The lighter clothes of the warmer days are exchanged for Jumpers, coats, hats and gloves.
Don’t forget thick socks and boots instead of those summer shoes.
A villagers life is different to a townies alas! For starters we don’t have gas but oil to heat our homes or electric provides the warmth we seek.
The chimneys need to be swept, the wood burners or open fires are due to be lit.
Coal, kindling and logs are bought, the cheapest providers are sought.
The beautiful colours of Autumn are not only on the trees but can be seen in gardens, Cyclamen, Chrysanthemums, Rudbeckia and Asters bring their beauty.
The garden centres and stores are full of bulbs to plant ready to bring their beauty glorious colours of Spring.
So don’t be sad that summer has made way for Autumn and Winter chills. In four months time after, halloween, and Christmas have done their thing we can look forward to a glorious Spring.
