Reflections on grief
It’s true how time seems to both ease and deepen the experience of loss. In the beginning, grief is sharp and overwhelming, each day a reminder of their absence. But as time goes on, the sorrow softens. It doesn’t vanish; it changes, becoming less consuming and more like a quiet presence that visits at unexpected moments.
Life has a way of pushing us forward, even when part of us wants to stay close to the memories and hold onto the pain because it feels like it’s all we have left of them. And yet, with each passing day, we learn to carry them with us in a new way, in the small things—memories, laughter, and the subtle ways they’ve shaped who we are. In time, we start to realize that moving forward doesn’t mean leaving them behind; it means learning to live in a world that they’re no longer part of, while keeping them close in a new, different way.
